Cuisine: European

Terttulia, the hip European style Bistro café in Koregaon Park has now opened a third branch in the trendy Balewadi High Street in Baner. Their second branch being Shivaji Park in Mumbai. It’s a nice open space with quirky artifacts on the wall from wooden boards to a pretty impressive wine rack – casual chic which works. The cocktail offerings are better than ever. The orange basil mojito reigns supreme but to that list is a melon mojito, a musk melon martini and a fantastic Terttulia long island ice tea (LIIT). The ever popular sangria, cocktails and mocktails are all available in one litre plus pitchers to share. This outlet is going to concentrate more than KP on a selection of world and Indian wines . Salads are really amazing – all fresh and tossed just before you order. The Asian red apple, cranberry almonds and quinoa slaw comes in a jar with a deliciously sweet and savoury peanut butter dressing. The roast beet goat cheese and orange segments, arugula with a balsamic dressing, is also outstanding. The pizza, sandwiches and wraps continue as a tribute to Terttulia’s KP café menu with the addition of the Bombay street sandwich. New to this menu are the paos and baos. The baos aren’t the Chinese buns you might expect but a soft, steamed tacos like shell. The crisp fried chicken with aioli is the one to try here. Of the small plates, the new Indopean pani puri with feta, salsa, chilli yogurt and tamarind cumin water is an amazing feat of creativity. The kaffir lime chicken and the balsamic glazed pork belly make a more complete bar food menu. That was really enough for one evening. However we did try some of the mains. The boeuf bourguignon and char grilled boeuf tenderloin with a great garlic mash are solid comfort food. The home-made ravioli with butter sage cream was a little too rich for me. Butter sage is decadent enough. Do you really need all that cream as well?

Pani Puri Terttulia

Desserts follow the KP menu. More cakes and brownies than anything else. If anything this section needs more variety. If you’re looking for European food in the Baner area, I would strongly recommend Tertullia.
