Trends are strange things, often full of unnecessary gimmicks and paraphernalia but when I heard there was a Bridgerton afternoon tea at the Lanesborough London launching at precisely the time I was there, I was intrigued to say the least. Intrigued because I am a huge fan of this costume drama and curious as to how the Lanesborough would handle this. Were there going to be actors prancing around in costume? Was there going to be a continuous loop of music from the TV series? Happily none of the above. A little extra flowery decor and the rest was business as usual in the exceptionally beautiful, richly decorated dining room, naturally illuminated during the day by a domed glass roof and stunning chandeliers setting the tone for a lavish afternoon.
A Regency icon in London, Lanesborough House was built in 1825 in the fashionable classical style by William Wilkins at the highpoint of the Regency era and today, London’s quintessential Regency building and therefore the perfect place to host Bridgerton.

The best part is they parade out a superlative quality of savoury and sweet morsels cleverly created around the Bridgerton theme (in partnership with Netflix and the producers). Carefully crafted by The Lanesborough’s Head Pastry Chef, Pierre Morvan-Benezet, the menu pays tribute to the key families in Bridgerton Season 3. The limited-edition tea pays homage to the Regency era; a time of great revelling and high style, of elegant parties, balls, and grand dinners, with a contemporary twist. Bridgerton at The Lanesborough Afternoon Tea means delicious little finger sandwiches and a mouthwatering crispy kale and cream cheese pastry tartlet. Sandwiches aren’t your run of the mill cucumber and smoked salmon. The cucumber is dressed with a light herby and roasted garlic cream and the egg mayo sandwich is bound with black truffle; then there’s succulent poached chicken, chive and sour cream on granary bread; Lambton and Jackson smoked salmon and horseradish. Now comes the real treat for cream tea lovers.
